Serves as an important team member responsible for tax compliance and other special projects within the Domestic Tax group. The position will build strong relationships with finance function and business line tax counterparts in the US SBU and corporate office. This position reports into the Director, US Tax Reporting.

  1. Work collaboratively with the tax team, as well as those outside of Tax, to provide high quality tax reporting and ensure the correct application of unique industry specific rules as may be required.

  2. Manage and review the preparation of accurate and timely filed consolidated federal and state income tax returns, including all forms and attachments.

  3. Manage and support outsourced providers on work streams involving fixed asset tax depreciation, state income and franchise tax preparation, sales and use tax return preparation, and property tax filings.

  4. Support the preparation and review of complex aspects of the Domestic income tax provision process, including maintenance of deferred taxes on fixed assets and partnerships, review of HLBV models, and return to accrual adjustments.

  5. Understand legislative changes to U.S. federal and state and local tax laws, and identify opportunities to manage adverse consequences.

6Identify, manage and capture efficiency improvement opportunities in line with annual targets.

  1. Manage federal and state tax audits, including responding to tax notices (as may be required).

  2. Manage and develop direct reports and other members of the US-Domestic tax team.

  3. Travel within the US may be required.

Qualifications:

  1. BS Accounting; CPA / MST strongly preferred.

  2. 5 to 8 years or more of experience; Big 4 accounting firm and large corporation tax department experience preferred.

  3. Able to self organize and coordinate with other tax team members across different offices where appropriate.

  4. Excellent judgment and verbal communication skills; Ability to synthesize large volumes of information quickly and accurately to advise on tax implications; tailor information to convey, timely, the most relevant data and decision points with various audiences (e.g. supervisors, tax peers and financing and business teams).

  5. Working knowledge in the ASC 740 impacts of complicated acquisitions/dispositions/reorganizations; intermediate understanding of an array of tax free, taxable, partnership and consolidated return technical provision.

  6. Strong organizational, management and writing skills.

  7. Willingness to challenge current processes and procedures with an emphasis on developing process improvements to gain overall efficiencies and automation.

  8. Excellent problem solving, strategic & creative thinking and interpersonal skills.
